About Ciara

Ciara obtained her primary degree (Bachelor of Civil Law) from University College Dublin and later completed her Masters Degree in Queen’s University, Belfast. Ciara also studied for a period in Istanbul whilst completing her thesis and has obtained an Ard-Dioplóma in Irish Legal Translations from University College, Galway.

Ciara joined a busy and well established litigation firm in her hometown of Monaghan following her third level education. Ciara completed her traineeship within that firm and during that time worked on several high value medical negligence and catastrophic injury cases. Ciara appreciates that cases of this nature require a strong emphasis on client need and good communication.

In February 2017, Ciara moved to Dublin and since that time has worked exclusively in the area of medical negligence litigation on behalf of injured patients. Ciara has worked on a wide array of cases including birth injury, stroke, psychiatric injury, gynaecological surgery, cancer diagnosis and treatment and orthopaedic surgery. Ciara also has experience with injuries arising from dental care.

During her time on the Law Society’s Professional Practices courses, Ciara elected for modules focused on litigation and medical negligence and showed a flair for alternative dispute resolution -winning the Law Society’s Mediation competition in 2013 and going on to represent the school at the international finals. Ciara continues to appreciate the value of alternative dispute resolution and negotiation, where appropriate.
