Mediated settlement of €1.625 million for Stroke Injury
The firm recently acted on behalf of an eighty-year-old lady who suffered a cardiac arrest and subsequent stroke whilst in the care of the Mater Private Hospital, Dublin. Whilst liability was not admitted it was possible to achieve a mediated settlement in the sum of €1.625 million which will allow for future care, aids, appliances and therapies.
Our client was admitted to the Mater Private Hospital with a known past history of atrial fibrillation for the purposes of colorectal surgery. Our client was assessed by a Cardiologist post operatively but thereafter remained in a private room and whilst there was a cardiac monitor by her bedside, she was not attached to same and accordingly, when she went into cardiac arrest she lay undiscovered for a considerable time causing subsequent stroke.
Our client had received excellent care from her family and husband and the hope is that the settlement will allow for some paid care together with aids, appliances and home adaptions.
